Obituary of David Carrol Gibson

Coeburn, Va.

David C. Gibson, age 65, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol, Tenn. after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 22, 1952 in Dickenson County, Va. to the late George and Sadie Wicker Gibson. David was a graduate of Castlewood High School. He married Krista Meade Gibson on December 9, 1977. He worked for Pittston Coal Group for several years. At the time of his death, he had just retired from Wise County Redevelopment and Housing Authority as a Maintenance Mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Virtue Miller (Becky), Charles Gibson, Lacey Gibson (Janice), Don Gibson, and Bill Gibson (Kathy); sisters, Edna Dutton and Bobbie Brush.

Left to honor and remember David’s life are his wife, Krista Meade Gibson of Coeburn, Va.; daughter, Courtney Herron (Seth) of Roanoke, Va.; son, Cole Gibson of Lexington, Ky.; grandson, Wyatt Herron; brothers, J.C. “Bud” Gibson (Kathleen) of Morral, Ohio, Johnny Gibson (Sonya Lynn); sister, Fredia Wears; brother-in-law, Chuck Brush; sister-in-law, Jenny Gibson, all of Marion, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and an honorary brother, Glenn Roberts of St. Paul, Va.

In accordance with David’s wishes, his body was cremated. Family, friends and others whose lives David touched are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Dingus Memorial Church, St. Paul, Va. with Brother Jerry Holbrook officiating.
